The Olmsted City

The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy (BOPC) completed the restoration and management plan for the City of Buffalo’s Olmsted-designed park and parkway system in 2008. The BOPC engaged a design team headed by The Urban Design Project at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo to prepare the plan titled The Olmsted City - The Buffalo Olmsted Park System: Plan for the 21st Century.

The plan recently won the 2008 American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) New York Upstate Chapter Honor Award for Planning and Analysis.

3D Model

The Urban Design Project, with the support of UB's Center for Computational Research (CCR), created a 3D model of every park and parkway in existing and proposed conditions. This model places the system within the context of the entire City of Buffalo. Click here for screenshots.
