The Long Wharf, 1890
Courtesy Western New York Heritage Institute Collection

The buildings east of the foot of Main Street fronting on the Buffalo
River were called “The Long Wharf.” It survived the old Central Wharf
by almost thirty years, until the construction of the D.L. & W. Depot.
The barrels, goods and horse-drawn freight wagons shown on the dock were
also characteristic of the activity on the former Central Wharf.
