The Chautauqua County Power Point Presentation

The "headlines" from Jamestown

Participants were split on whether things are "getting better" or "getting worse" and in the middle on whether the county is "in good shape" or "in bad shape."

The number one priority was "people development" with emphasis on education and training, youth and families.

People were encouraged by the energy and accomplishments on the economy, but we have still more to do to keep kids here.

Work on green space preservation, water quality, and waterfront development is good, but we're not dealing with sprawl - suburban industrial parks don't help.

We've made a lot of progress on shared services and regional cooperation, but we need to improve participation, and learn more from the successes of others.

We've made a good start with a strong focus on children, but "people development" has to be more than just youth, and we need better coordination.

The vision and principles statement is "on target."
