Project Funding
The Urban Design Project and the Landmark Society of the Niagara Frontier have joined to undertake a leadership role in exploring the value of these world-famous industrial monuments in Buffalo and the Niagara Region. In addition to the funds secured from grants from the National Endowment for the Arts ($20,000) and the New York State Council on the Arts and the Preservation League of New York State ($12,300), we are seeking additional cash and in-kind contributions from potential project partners to raise the required additional funds of about $30,000. The two grants form a single project to be guided jointly by the principal investigators of the the projects, Lynda Schneekloth of the Urban Design Project and Jessie Schnell of the Landmark Society of the Niagara Frontier. The Urban Design Project has had substantial experience both in urban design and the construction of large public-professional deliberative process. The Landmark Society is a well-respected preservation organization in the region. An Advisory Group, including representatives from government, preservation organizations, and businesses, will assist the program.
